Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is the department for economic growth. The department brings together responsibilities for business, industrial strategy, science, innovation, energy, and climate change. It also protects consumers and reduces the impact of regulation. BEIS has a dedicated Automotive Unit which also provides the secretariat function to the Automotive Council UK.

Department for International Trade
The Department for International Trade is the Government department responsible for promoting British trade across the world, ensuring the UK takes advantage of the opportunities available. It also helps overseas companies bring their high-quality investment to the UK. The Automotive Investment Organisation, in the Department for International Trade, works specifically to bring automotive supply chain companies to the UK.

Advanced Propulsion Centre
Government and industry are investing around £1 billion over the next 10 years in an Advanced Propulsion Centre to research, develop and commercialise the next generation of low carbon technologies. The APC helps forge partnerships between those who have good ideas and those who can bring them to market. The services provided by the APC will enable projects which provide profitable growth and sustainable opportunities for the partners involved and contribute to the UK’s economic prosperity. This investment has the potential to secure up to 30,000 jobs currently linked to producing engines and it will create many more in the supply chain.

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) is a team working across government to support the early market for ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs). High Value Manufacturing Catapult
The High Value Manufacturing Catapult is a catalyst for future growth and success of manufacturing in the UK. It is a strategic initiative that aims to revitalise the manufacturing industry. The HVM Catapult’s network consists of seven technology and innovation centres, established and overseen by the Technology Strategy Board with over £200m of government investment. To date TSB has invested a total of £310m in its automotive programmes.

Transport Systems Catapult
The Transport Systems Catapult is the UK’s technology and innovation centre for Intelligent Mobility, harnessing emerging technologies to improve the movement of people and goods around the world. Some of the early challenges that will be addressed through the Catapult include seamless journey systems, remote asset management and monitoring, traffic management and control systems, journey assistance systems, infrastructure integrity and security, connected vehicles.
