Aston Martin committed to ‘See Inside Manufacturing’

13 Jul 2011

As part of Aston Martin’s commitment to the British Government’s ‘See Inside Manufacturing’ initiative, the company recently hosted a number of students from across the Midlands at the marque’s global Headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Established at the Manufacturing Summit in January, by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, the initiative seeks to attract the brightest and best talent into the automotive industry with the strong support of the UK Automotive Council.

During the visit to Aston Martin, the students were given an insight into all aspects of the company; from the world renowned Design Studio to Manufacturing, viewing how Aston Martin combines advanced technological processes with traditional hand craftsmanship. The day also included visiting the distinctive production space for the One-77; Aston Martin’s ultimate production sportscar.

Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “The Government is investing in more apprenticeships than ever before. Together with industry we must inspire more young people to see manufacturing and engineering as a viable and exciting career choice.

“We also need to ensure that UK manufacturing can take on its competitors head on and make the next decade one of the most dynamic and entrepreneurial periods in our history.”

To assist Aston Martin in its ongoing pursuit of excellence in design, performance and craftsmanship in sports car manufacture, the company has recruited more than 35 graduates in the last three years. The company continues to harbour a commitment to high technology manufacturing, exceptional quality and, above all, a desire to innovate, helping preserve its independence in the years to come.
