Technology Strategy Board launches £500k competition to support low carbon projects
24 Jan 2011
A competition to support studies into the re-use, commercial viability and re-cycling of batteries in low and ultra-low carbon vehicles is being launched by the Technology Strategy Board.
The Board, which exists to advise government on innovation and promote investment in technology, research and development in the UK, is inviting UK-based low and ultra low carbon vehicle projects to enter the competition to be in with a chance to receive up to £75,000 towards their project funding.
Projects valued at £100,000 or less and expected to last less than 12 months are encouraged to enter. Successful entries will demonstrate a credible business case, route to market and the potential to deliver low carbon vehicles in domestic and international markets.
The competition is part of the ‘innovation platform’, launched in 2007 in association with the Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the deadline for entries is 18 May 2011. Successful entries will be advised of the outcome by 17 June 2011. For more information, click here.
A key networking event to facilitate consortia building for this competition is being organised by the Transport Knowledge Transfer Network, at the University of Warwick on 3 February 2011. This event will also cover the recently announced £8m Low Carbon Vehicles collaborative research and development competition and the £1m feasibility studies competition on disruptive vehicle technology.
